Admissions Statement
Veritas Christian Academy is open to all academically qualified students and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, or national origin in the administration of its policies, admissions and any school-directed programs.
Admission Requirements and Procedure
- A student MUST HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF FIVE YEARS BY SEPTEMBER 1ST of the school year in which Kindergarten would be entered.
- A student entering First Grade MUST HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF SIX YEARS BY SEPTEMBER 1ST of the school year.
- A student entering Second Grade MUST HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF SEVEN YEARS OLD.
- If a student has successfully completed the previous school year at another school and his/her schoolwork and behavior compare favorably to the comparable grade at the Academy, the student will be placed in the grade for which the application is made.This same policy applies to students who apply to transfer to the Academy within the same grade as the school from which they are currently enrolled. If it is determined by the Administrator and the teacher that the student may not adequately be prepared for the next sequential grade or the current grade, it may be necessary for the student to repeat or be moved to the previous grade. A conference between the parents, the Administrator and the Teacher may be required to aid in making this determination.
- Priority for enrollment will be given to students currently enrolled and slots for new students will be considered in the order in which applications are received. Applications are accepted at any time and if a slot is not available in the grade that is being applied for, the students will be put on a waiting list and will be called on a first come, first served basis. Being toilet trained is necessary for admittance.
- The following documents are required for admittance:
- • A current Alabama Blue Immunization Form
- • An original copy* of the student’s birth certificate
- • An original copy* of the student’s Social Security Card
- *We will make the copies.
- Student academic, discipline, special programs and attendance records from former schools. If the parent does not have a copy of these records upon application for enrollment, Administration will immediately send a Request for Records to the previous schools with proper information given by the parents.
- The following fees must be paid to hold a spot for the student:
- • Registration fee
- • Book fee
- • Testing fee, if applicable to the grade
- A student may be denied re-enrollment due to poor academic performance, behavioral problems, or lack of parental support for the Academy’s Christian philosophy, rules, or staff.
Learning Disabilities Policy
- Students who been diagnosed with a severe learning disability will not be admitted to the Academy due to the lack of adequate staff, funding and facilities. A severe learning disability is defined as: any condition which requires a separate classroom, program and specially trained staff in order to provide the educational services desired by the parents.
- Students who have been diagnosed as having a mild learning disability will be required to meet the same academic standards as all other students in their grade level and will be given the same amount of individual instruction and encouragement as their classmates. A mild learning disability is defined as: any condition which does not require a separate classroom, program or specially trained staff to provide the education desired by the parents. Examples include, but are not limited to, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Hyperactivity Deficit Disorder and mild Dyslexia.
The Administrator reserves the right to determine if a student meets the requirements of the Learning Disabilities Policy for admission.
