OUR VISION

Our vision is to provide a superior K5-8th grade academic program to all families in the Columbus/Fort Benning/Phenix City/Smiths Station metropolitan area who are in search of Christian education for their children. We pray to build our school by grade as the student population and physical space grows. We pray that the two to three year accreditation process for the Association of Christian Schools International that was begun in the 2010-2011 school year will be completed and we will be blessed with their guidance. We place our faith and confidence in our Savior that all these things will occur in His own time and that a godly staff and a harmonious partnership with our parents and guardians will yield students who will influence the world for Jesus Christ.

CORE VALUES

Biblical foundation. We proclaim the Bible as the ultimate and final authority in all matters and to be the only truth. We believe the world was created in six days by the power of God, apart from any evolutionary processes. As a reflection of the authority of God's Word, we practice the integration of God's Word into all subject matter taught at our school. As our students are exposed to God's truth, they will develop self-discipline and respect for authority, accountability, and responsibility that filters into all areas of life.

Modeling Christ.  Our Ministry Team members, administration, staff and faculty have a strong Christian faith and will exemplify these things in their lives. They are required to sign the Baptist Statement of Faith. They must exhibit a clear evidence of a personal commitment to, and life in the Lord Jesus Christ, and act as role models to broaden the students’ opportunities to see authentic faith portrayed in the world.  Employees must be an active member of a local protestant, evangelical church.

Consistent  devotion for staff and students. Our staff meets weekly for devotion and prayer and all students attend chapel weekly. The opportunity for salvation, praises to God and understanding of the Bible will always be available at theses gatherings of the staff and of the students.

Harmonious partnership with parents and guardians. God has given the responsibility of training children to the parents; the school, with the help of the church, serves as a support system for parents engaged in this task. We strive to have our parents and guardians freely give of their time in the classroom and in school activities and to support the disciplinary policies of the Academy.

Academic Superiority.  Classical Christian education provides a method of educating students that is in accordance with the child’s natural mental, social and spiritual abilities as ordained by God. The learning of the classical language of Latin is part of this message; it has been proven to help students understand and think with greater depth about the world around them. Art, music and physical education are integrated into and complete our well-rounded curriculum.

Constant and abiding respect for all authorities. First and foremost, our students must respect God as the ultimate authority and from this learning, respect for teachers, staff and fellow students will follow. We believe that discipline must  be administered with love and forgiveness at the core  of our discipline practices for disrespect shown to anyone.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

The ultimate purpose of Veritas Christian Academy is to glorify God as a ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church.  A superior education will be provided using the Classical Christian method  and integration God’s word.  We strive to assist parents and guardians in raising up academically, spiritually, socially, physically, culturally and emotionally prepared students. The most important philosophical elements that we believe distinguish our approach to education are as follows:

  1. Under the delegation of the family, we seek to teach with a carefully planned and well balanced academic program.
  2. We believe that God’s character is revealed not only in His Word but also in every facet of the creation. Therefore, we teach that all knowledge is interrelated (integrated) and can instruct us about God himself.
  3. We want to help parents teach their children that all they do should be done “heartily, as unto the Lord.” Therefore, we seek to encourage quality academic work and maintain high standards of conduct.
  4. Because the Academy teaches that God and his truth are the basis for learning, each student is challenged to respond to God in faith with an appropriate use of their God-given abilities and his acquired skills and knowledge. The Academy attempts to develop in each child the awareness that the use of this knowledge and skills have a direct bearing on three fundamental relationships in life; (1) to God, (2) to other, (3) to the environment (creation).
  5. We seek to meet the various motor development of skill levels of each age group with physical education classes.
  6. We seek to develop cultural development through a combination of music, art, literature and Latin classes.
